My history~
I attended Harlow college (1995) for 2 years and completed an NVQ level 2 in hairdressing and a city & guilds,a GNVQ in communications
Since college I have been working in and around Harlow - Hertfordshire- Herts - and london gaining valuable experience running and working in various salons and working with all different hair types.
I have learned so much from some fantastic hairdressers and have completed and gained advanced hairdressing certificates from GOLDWELL ( for perming/colouring/cutting) TONI & GUY (For cutting/photographic work) L'OREAL (for colouring/cutting) and most recently MATRIX (for Long hairdressing/cutting /Colour correction) .
In December 2005 I set up my own salon in harlow essex MANETAME hair studio. (which became Lee Culver -Hair design- after 6 happy years at the stow in harlow I decided to re-locate my business to Waltham Abbey where I now live .)
I wanted to provide a different type of salon. For years I had been chatting to and getting to know my clients, I discovered that many clients feel uncomfortable in a salon where they are pushed from pillar to post and had too many people working on their hair and many felt not as satisfied with the end result.
I therefore decided to work alone, and provide the clients with a one to one service where they always get me to do their hair from start to finish. I do everything from the hair washing, cutting , blowdrying , hair extensions, colouring making the tea and coffee and answering the phone. I always book clients in with enough time to do their hair so that no-one is ever rushed. It seems to run very smoothly and I much prefer being totally in control .The appointment only system works very well and personally I think is much more professional.
I feel clients should be totally relaxed after having their hair done and look and feel fantastic about themselves, with a professional stylist that listens and understands their needs with a bit of decent conversation thrown in.
I feel its very important to have good communication with my clients therefore I feel it's always best to be honest and up front as to what can be achieved or what style/colour length is best suited to the individual client so please don't hesitate to express exactly what you want and I'm sure between us we can achieve it.
Just a note; I know some clients have children, which are welcome, as long as you understand some services do take a long time and there is no entertainment for children in my salon
Thanks for taking the time to read this far .
Lee Culver.
